Green Pass Miracle

Thursday may have been my worst day as a full-time missionary.  Beginning 9/1, the Italian Health Ministry is requiring everyone who has been vaccinated to get a "green pass."  This pass is required to travel on public transportation, dine inside restaurants, etc.  (It is also quite a motivator for the populace to get vaccinated).  Anyway, our white CDC cards are supposed to work, but of course, many Italians don't know this or refuse to accept this.  So, we are all trying to get green passes.  Like many things Italian, it is complicated to know how to do this as foreigners without Italian health care cards.  So, a kind member went around with us Thursday, first to a pharmacy, then to an Italian health care scheduling department, then on Friday to a vaccination center, then to an emergency room without success.

Our fervent prayers were answered when, on Friday, we heard about emailing this address attaching copies of our passports, visas, codice fiscale (like a SSN#) and our vaccination cards.  We were able to secure our green passes in less than an hour.  We helped others in the mission yesterday and today.  ITS A MIRACLE!  We treated ourselves to gelato Friday afternoon!  What a hassle and what a relief!

We continue to have wonderful turnouts at our GANS activities on Wednesday evening and our FHEs on Sunday evening.

Monday evening, we were invited to dinner & FHE with the Santoro family.  He is first counselor in the Poggiofranco ward.  We had a lovely evening with them.  Dawn really liked the tiramisu dessert (made with orzo instead of coffee).

The Santoro's are a returned missionary family.  This is very inspiring to me.  What a great example for all of us.
