P-day at Cerignola

On our trip home from Foggia a few weeks ago, we noticed this prominent domed cathedral in a town several kilometers from the highway.  The basilica of Cerignola is magnificent up close.

In doing our research, we found that this church was built on the site of a much older one from the 11th century. Today's structure was started in the 1800s and completed in the 1930s.  So it is more the vintage of the tabernacle in Logan, for example.

Here is the town's theater, a very lovely, quaint structure.  In the Puglia regione, there are over 4 million people.  Many live in the dozens of smaller towns like Cerignola outside the principle cities of Bari, Taranto, Brindisi, Lecce and Foggia.

On the way home after our visit, we stopped at Puglia Village, for burgers and fries at Old Wild West.
