Missionaries from here to there and everywhere!

This past week we hosted the 4 young missionaries from Malta.  They were heading to Rome with a newer member who was to be endowed.  Their Valetta-Rome flight got cancelled so they flew to Bari and spent the night, then took a train to Rome.  We had lunch together at Mozzarella-Basilico and the Sisters spent the night at our apartment.

For Tuesday's lunch with the Elders, Sister Cannariato thought it would be a good thing to have a cooking class.  So, it was buccatini alla carbonara day with Anziano Bellini prepping the casaba melon, Anziano Perry making the egg/cheese sauce, and Anziano Lott cooking up the guanciale.  It was fun and tasty!

One of the sisters in Lecce, Sorella Gonzales, is in the hospital with appendicitis.  Here companion, Sorella Ortega, spent the weekend in Bari, and on Sunday morning, we picked her up and the three of us attended church in Brindisi, where we all spoke.  President Palma, in the yellow blazer does a nice job with this small group of saints.  There were 6 members present, 3 watching on Zoom and the 3 of us missionaries.  It was a very tender experience to have these older faithful Italian brothers bless and pass the sacrament.  After the meeting we drove out to Mesagne to visit one of the sisters who joined on zoom, Maria.  She was baptized in 1973 and Randy Jacobs had a hand in her teaching.

After the visit we drove Sister Ortega to her apartment in Lecce to repack her suitcase, then drove her to stay with the sisters in Statte until Sister Gonzales is released from the hospital.  Then, after inspecting the sisters apartment, Dawn and I drove back to Bari in time for our GANS FHE.

Speaking of apartments, we continue to look for a new apartment for the elders.  I didn't think I'd need to use my real estate experience on the mission, but here we are!

Here's a cool Russian Orthodox church that is about a 5 minute walk from our apartment.  We hope to go inside sometime for a tour.

We surely enjoyed general conference and are now reviewing the talks as part of our daily study. We have now been set apart missionaries for three months.  We are busy and happy.
